As a reminder for employers in Los Angeles, California, minimum wage rates for hotel and airport workers will increase on a phased schedule beginning July 1, 2025:
- $22.50/hour starting July 1, 2025
- $25.00/hour starting July 1, 2026
- $27.50/hour starting July 1, 2027
- $30.00/hour starting July 1, 2028
These changes follow amendments to the City’s Living Wage Ordinance (LWO) and Hotel Worker Minimum Wage Ordinance (HWMO), passed on May 27, 2025.
Additional Requirements:
- Health Benefits:
- Starting July 1, 2025, airport employers must pay at least $7.65/hour if health benefits are not provided.
- Starting July 1, 2026, hotel employers must also provide this additional pay if health benefits are not offered.
- Hotel Worker Training: By December 1, 2025, hotel employers must provide at least 6 hours of live, interactive training covering:
- Worker rights and employer responsibilities
- Human trafficking and workplace violence awareness
- Disease prevention cleaning techniques
- Pest and vermin identification
- Recognizing and responding to criminal activity
