On July 2, 2025, Governor Dan McKee signed legislation (S0126A) into law, protecting Rhode Island employees from being forced to attend or listen to employer communications about political or religious matters.

The new law prohibits employers from disciplining or threatening employees who choose not to attend meetings or view communications primarily focused on the employer’s views about political or religious topics—including union organizing.
