Texas Production Tax Incentives

Overview

  • Texas offers grants ranging from 5% to 20% based on project type and budget amount, with an additional 2.5% available if certain uplift requirements are met (see below).
  • At least 60% of production must occur in Texas with at least 55% of the total number of crew and at least 55% of the total number of cast, including extras, must be Texas residents.

Eligible projects: animation, commercials, documentaries, feature films, game shows, infomercials, music videos, reality TV, scripted TV, talk shows, TV movies, video games, VFX

Minimum Spend
$250,000 (5% grant) / $1M (10% grant) / $3.5M (20% grant)
Local Hire Requirement
Residents must complete a declaration of Texas residency (DTR) form & provide Texas DL/ID, Texas college ID, or voter registration. 55% of cast and crew must be Texas residents.

Application Timing

Audit
CPA audit is not required. Final documentation (including cast list, crew list, call sheets, & production reports) is due within 60 days of final Texas expenditure and is reviewed by TFC.
